About Us

WTTW was formed to implement the Learning and Skills Council's 'Working Together' Strategy through a key strategic learning partnership.

The Aim of WTTW is to:

‘Increase access to learning opportunities for the voluntary and community Sector in Tyne & Wear’

The Objectives of WTTW are:

Influence and progress the implementation of the 'Working Together' Strategy at sub-regional and local level.

  • Support and advise on the implementation of the strategy
  • Monitor progress against the implementation plan of the strategy
  • Promote and adhere to the principles of equality and diversity
  • Share good practice
  • Disseminate information
  • Raise appropriate funding to support the work of the Consortium
  • Influence regional and national strategies to ensure that the needs of the Voluntary and Community Sector are taken into consideration
  • Raise awareness and the profile of the VCS organisations within Tyne and Wear, as providers of training and other services

Membership :

There are two categories of membership:

The Strategic Group

  • Ensure that all aspects of the consortium’s remit are delivered;
  • Direct the delivery of the action plan;
  • Provide strategic direction to the Operations Team and Task Groups;
  • Represent the views of the entire membership to the LSC, regional consortium etc;
  • Secure funding to support all aspects of the consortium’s work.

The Information Network

  • Receive and disseminate information;
  • Respond to requests for views / information;
  • Feed information into the consortium via their Steering Group representative;
  • Actively participate in events;
  • Actively participate in workforce development;
  • Promote and provide learning to other VCS organisations;
  • Undertake capacity building and share best practice;
  • Work to engage hard to reach learners.
